Aim/Purpose: The CMSV was formed in 1995 to give greater opportunity to Victorian MacLachlans, Gilchrists, Ewings etc. to fraternize with other Clanspeople and participate as representatives of Clan Maclachlan in a range of Scottish and Celtic activities. The objectives of the Society are: (1) To further the spirit of kinship among the MacLachlans and the Septs of the Clan in Victoria and throughout the world. (2) To collect and preserve records and traditions and historical material bearing on the history of the Clan. (3) To encourage the publication of documents and/or articles connected with the Clan and to complile a history of the Clan and its Septs. (4) To cooperate with other Clans Societies in fostering participation in Scottish/Celtic activities.
Short history:  The Clan is an ancient one, emerging from the Dalriada Kingdom in its early days in Scotland. It has been centred in Argyll for about 1000 years. The Chief, Euan Maclachlan of Maclachlan, lives in Castle Lachlan, facing Loch Fyne on the Cowal Peninsular near Strachur in Argyll & Bute.
